News from the Field
May/June 2001

Hello loved ones.

Thank You... Timothy sends a great big hug to everyone who sent baby gifts. Would you believe he received over 50 newborn outfits? We've been able to pass on many things to needy neighbors, which is a great testimony. Special thanks goes to the individuals at the Olympic Vineyard and GCF who sent so many useful things. We truly appreciate what you've done.

Christie and Brazilian worker with anaconda

We've taken advantage of Richie and Christie's photo archive to show you some of the scenes from the Xingu basin where we work. Just in case you ever wondered...yes, anacondas really do exist! Here's Christie and a Brazilian worker with a lovely specimen in Altamira.

As you can see, houses along the river are simple, stilt-types with thatched roofs. Often, two or three families live together in the same house. There are villages not too distant from Porto de Moz that have never been presented with the gospel message. Our location is excellent for reaching them, and for that reason we hope to train a crew of workers to carry on church planting in the interior on a permanent basis.

river housePrayer Requests

If you are on our prayer team, this is your update. Keep up the intercession!

bulletPray for our upcoming conference in July - for the move of God in terms of salvations, healings, and deliverance. Also, pray for financial provision for all the preparations.
bulletPray for the health and safety of our family and the ministry team (Renato & Celinalda, Richie & Christie, Stuart and Lyn).
bulletPray for the multiplication of home groups and personal discipleship.
bulletPray for the ladies in Heidi's literacy class who are for the first time learning to read the Bible.
bulletPray for sustained church growth and strong city evangelism.

We are enthusiastic about our home groups. Since the start of the year we've seen the salvation of four of our neighbors, one of which had previously threatened to kill his wife with a machete. Now, radically saved, he's at 6:00am prayer almost every day. Two more neighbors, a divorced mom and a pregnant single young lady are coming out to home group. We pray for their eyes to be opened to the hope that is in Jesus. At the end of May, we're holding a baptism for five new converts.

Needs: used clothing (especially for children), over the counter medicines for colds and fevers (e.g. children's Tylenol, Vick's, etc.), sheets and linens, craft materials for Sunday school. Items may be sent to our home address via surface mail.

We wish you a wonderful summer, one full of new adventures and successes in Christ.

Our Love, Heidi and Railson
