Church News

At the end of February our church family participated at the annual Cristoval retreat near Porto de Moz, along with the better part of the Vineyard congregations from our region. It was definitely a time of spiritual refreshing, fun, and friendship-making for the 17 of us who were able to attend from Almeirim. Four people were baptized at the end of the 3-day event, including one of our disciples, Elivelton. Photo: baptisms in the Xingu River.

Internet From Home/Church Office

With the installation of an internet connection from home in March, we are able to be "closer" to Vineyard Brazil and our mission in Altamira, especially to those involved with music ministry. In the last month we have been very encouraged by the exchange of information and camaraderie we now have with our counterparts in other cities. Besides keeping us connected to others, internet facilitates periodic updates to our web page, helping keep our supporters better informed of ministry developments. Our email address appears in the box below, and our MSN address will be provided upon your request.

Health Work

Heidi still looks for an opportunity to work in public health. Recently, the health department requested her to elaborate a project related to hospital foodservice management and menu development, but we have no word yet as to whether it will back its request with sufficient financial compensation. Please pray that Heidi’s proposal will be accepted, since it would definitely be a step in the right direction for obtaining important professional documents.

Supplies Needed

We have an ongoing need for used clothing, especially women’s and adolescent girls’ summer clothes. Sheets, towels, craft supplies, toys, vitamins and first aid supplies are also needed. Boxes can be sent via surface mail to the "CP 10" address below. A suggestion: why not ask your Bible study or prayer group if it would be interested in sending down a care package? Then get in touch with us through email and we can tell you exactly which items would be most useful at that specific time.

Tentmaking

We continue to work in the cities of Monte Dourado and Laranjal-do-Jari through the provision of wireless internet service. The establishment of Amaster has not been without its complications, such as the drastic decline of the dollar and injustices in the legal sphere. Unfortunately, some of these complications have demanded a great deal of our resources, so we are doing our best to counter the need with a large measure of faith. Nonetheless, we are blessed to be moving forward and slowly expanding business to new clients. We are not yet seeing a financial return, so please pray that this process will gain ground quickly. Since workers from our church recently moved to Laranjal, we are praying about the possibility of starting a home church there and moving our family to Monte Dourado in the future.
